22nd Annual GPISD Marching Band Festival
The Fine Arts Department will be hosting the 22nd Annual GPISD Marching Band Festival on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the GPISD Stadium. Admission in $5.00 and the performance schedule is available online.

GPISD Geography & Social Studies Bees
Join un for the Annual GPISD Geography & Social Studies Bees at the Joyce Zotz Education Center. The Elementary Bee will be on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, and the Middle School and High School Bees will be on Thursday, November 21, 2024. Please see the flyer for more information.

Region 4 Superintendent of the Year
Galena Park ISD Superintendent Dr. John Moore has been selected as the Region 4 Superintendent of the Year. This distinction makes Moore the Region 4 nominee for Texas Superintendent of the Year, which will be announced Sept. 28 by the Texas Association of School Boards and the Texas Association of School Administrators at txEDCON24.

Rice University’s Kinder Institute recently examined Houston-area school districts with spending gaps exceeding 40% and underperforming on state academic achievement ratings. However, the article also exemplifies that Galena Park ISD continues to outperform its counterparts—even more reasons that GPISD is A Great Place to Be!

Free Breakfast and Lunch - Every Student, Every Day!
We are pleased to inform you the Galena Park Independent School District will be implementing a new option available to schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).

A GPISD Leader
An outstanding 670 students from 4th to 8th grade participated in this summer’s Education in Action 2024 Lone Star Leadership Academy camps–and one of those students proudly represented Galena Park ISD! Havard Elementary School’s Juliet Butler attended the Dallas/Fort Worth Lone Star Leadership Academy camp.

At the September 9, 2024, Galena Park ISD (GPISD) Board of Trustees meeting, GPISD recognized Lorena Sandoval for being selected as the District 4 recipient of the 2024 State Board of Education (SBOE) Heroes for Children award.

Meet the 2024-2025 Galena Park ISD Board of Trustees Officers
At the June 10th Board of Trustees meeting, the Board elected new officers for the 2024-2025 school year and recognized them in their new roles. Norma Hernandez, who previously served as the Board’s Vice president, was elected President. Ramon Garza was elected Vice President, and Linda Clark Sherrard was chosen Secretary for the upcoming school year.

Blackboard Parentlink Notification System - TCPA
Galena Park ISD regularly provides mass notifications to parents, guardians, students, and faculty regarding weather closures, threat situations, event scheduling, or to provide other important education-related information. These messages not only drive positive educational outcomes, they can also save lives.

Removal of Unauthorized/Disruptive Persons
As of August 26, 2018 all school districts are subject to the Commissioner’s rules regarding the removal of a disruptive person from a campus. More information regarding this new rule can be found in Chapter 37, section 37.105 of the Texas Education Code, which addresses: Unauthorized Persons, Refusal of Entry, Ejection, and Identification.
